Dollar Kingdom Closing

Dollar Kingdom in the Walkers Village Shopping Center will soon close its doors in one week.
The Columba family of Walkersville opened the store about fifteen years ago, and continue to operate the business. By 2010, the store moved to a larger space in the shopping center while other businesses vacated. The business kept a steady customer base offering a variety of products including household supplies, balloons, toys, and more.
Mr. Columba, owner and face of the store, alluded to the closing over a year ago, but the store remained open.
According to Mr. Columba, the store put everything on sale the day after Christmas. The large signs in the windows announce the store’s closing and deep discounts on all merchandise. Mr. Columba said the store will officially close on January 16, 2015.
Dollar Kingdom’s closing will add another large vacant spot in the shopping center. Marketing brochures list over 19,000 square feet of space available for least at the shopping center. Dollar Kingdom will bring that number to more than 21,000 square feet.

Plagued by constant and long-term vacancies, the Walkers Village Shopping Center became the subject of meetings at Walkersville Town Hall while discussing blight and safety issues in the community. The Walkersville Economic Development Commission, the Walkersville Planning Commission, the Town Commissioners, and Burgess met on several occasions over the last two years to discuss the problems. The Planning Commission continues to discuss proposals for legislation to address issues at the shopping center and other properties around Walkersville.
Dollar Kingdom will officially close its doors next Saturday, January 16, 2016. Until then, you will be able to get merchandise a significant savings.
